Windows Live Writer, is a new free software, currently in version Beta, produced by Microsoft to make it easier to edit and publish articles on blogs. I found out about it by chance a few days ago but laziness didn't really agree to install it until today :-)
Update: The application was withdrawn after a few years.
This Windows Live Space is no longer available.
Currently, there is a version called Open Live Writer, which does much the same thing.

Open Live Writer is a powerful and lightweight blog editor that lets you create blog posts, add photos and videos, and then publish them to your website. You can also compose blog posts offline and publish them when you get back online. Open Live Writer works with many popular blog service providers such as WordPress, Blogger, TypePad, Moveable Type, DasBlog and many more.”
Windows Live Writer (Beta) characteristics:
- Once installed and set desired blog software to address this important server's style and layout of the grounds used features.
- Editing text is WYSIWYG (font, Headings, fonts, colors, background images, paragraph spacing, margins and block quotes)
- Simple post insertion of images, customization of them and upload to the server without the need for an FTP client.
- Map Publishing (do not use so now)
- Compatibility: Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad, WordPress and others I probably don't know about.
Looking at the page http://ideas.live.com/ I see that they have started to release a series of new products from Microsoft and some even interesting ones. It remains to be seen what the release versions will look like in many of the new products that are currently on stage beta.
