Change or Recover Missing Apps Icons (eg Opera)

I do not know how we managed these days, but I repeatedly disappeared iconCPC default full Opera Browser. Instead of the red "O" circle, it appears to me on both shortcutacquis on Desktop and in Windows 7 taskbar, the icon default of "unknown files".

How recover / change an application icon.

In default, the Opera 10.10 shortcut has the icon:

In case this icon suddenly disappears, or you want to change, you need to follow some very simple steps.

1. Right click the application shortcut (Opera, Firefox, Winamp, Internet Explorer, etc…) to which you want to change the icon & click on Properties.

2. In the "Shortcut" tab we find the button Change Icon … Click on this button.

3. A will open windows / a dialog box, in the location default of the executable, which contains all the icons default of the application. For Opera Browser, location default this %ProgramFiles%Operaopera.exe . Here we can select one of the icons default… Or we can press the button “Browse”To select another icon from our computer.

4. Select (double-click) the new icon for the Opera shortcut and press OK & Apply.

5. For those who have Windows 7 or Windows Vista, a dialog box will open asking for your permission Administrator for the change made.

Click “Continue".

After this step, the Opera icon amended.

users Windows 7, I can right-click on the shortcut on Desktop & Pin to Taskbar to put Opera with the new icon in the taskbar.

This method can be applied to all programs installedBut it is useful only if no icon disappears or if you want to make a small taskbar customizationin Windows 7.
