How can we deactivate updateSites in Windows 10 [Disable Windows 10 Updates]

Compared to the previously released operating systems, Chapter Updates, Windows 10 something tougher. Meaning that Microsoft wants in one way or another to force each user to keep system updated operating, whether he wants to or not.
Let's get along… I've always thought that a system up to date, is a more stable and safer. However, there are also situations when certain updatedamages the system / computer. We are not talking about updatethe "cores" that bring stability, increased security and better performance of the system itself, but by updatesound, video, webcam, etc. drivers that come through Windows Updates.

A concrete example is the case of a laptop Lenovo Ideapad (Core i7 2.20 GHz, 6GB RAM, 2GB nVIDIA GT 555M) that has a history of 5 years and which we have installed Windows 10. Everything works great on it even graphics programs like Photoshop, until they do update driver for the integrated video card, Intel HD Graphics. After update, disaster is coming. It "moves" with the speed of a snail and even the simplest games no longer work normally. To avoid updateautomatic driver, the only solution in Windows 10 it is to we completely disable the services Windows Updates.

OS Microsoft Windows 7 and his previous systems, things were very simple. there control Panel ability to enable / disable or download free installation of Updates Windows. this tutorial show how they can be administered updateSites in Windows 7.

users Windows 10 who want to deactivate Windows Updates, do not have a direct option from the Control Panel. In the panel from Windows 10 dedicated updatefixes may (Windows Update), there are several settings, but none allow deactivation updatefixes may.

Deactivation can only be done if we completely disable the service Windows who is responsible for Windows Updates (wuauserv).

1. Open the "Run" key Windows + R), enter “services.msc” and press Enter to open the panel Windows Services.

2. In the list of services, we are looking for Windows Update. By default, this service is switched to “Manual” or “Automatic” mode.

3. Right-click on Windows Update selected> Properties, and in the right "Startup type: "Select"Disable".

This means that the process of checking, downloading and installing the updatefor Windows 10, it will no longer start when opening the system.

Service name: wuauserv

Enables the detection, download, and installation of updates for Windows and other programs. If this service is disabled, users of this computer will not be able to use Windows Update or its automatic updating feature, and programs will not be able to use it Windows Update Agent (WUA) API.

Note that wuauserv will never see it as executable in Task Manager. It runs under  svchost.exe, an executable that contains a number of services Windows.

This way you can disable it updateoperating system Windows 10, if it is necessary to do so.

  1. The statement "an up-to-date system is a more stable and secure system" is not entirely true. I know a lot of people who have never done that updatein Windows 7... and the system is damn stable! As for "secure"... that depends on the interpretation, if you want "Microsoft security" or I assure you! Because, Microsoft, starting with Windows 8 and continuing with Windows 10 it has become quite abusive... I personally trust Microsoft as much as I would trust the one that sells potatoes in the market... shame on their systems!
As for stopping wuauserv... after you set it to "disable" did you restart, then check the service? It will reactivate... The solution is different...

    • Hello,

If you restart the PC, you will see that it does not work update. I don't know what you did there, but it certainly doesn't work update if you follow the steps in the tutorial.
As for the "security" of an up-to-date system, there have often been issues with new types of viruses that have been resolved with the help of update. The thing is, that security depends on the user. What sites do you go to, what programs do you install and especially where do you get them from. When I said it was a "more secure" system, I was not referring to Microsoft's policy, but to third parties who could access a infected system. As for Microsoft, thank God I don't use it Windows and Office etc only when I do tutorials. Apple is more safer ;-)
