How to fix the error "Windows cannot find msconfig ”(Run command) in Windows XP

A user drew my attention to an errors which appeared in data following a command Run:

msconfig_error

The main causes of this error are often, some Virus to delete msconfig, regedit or the Run command.

How can you recover msconfig.exe in XP if it has been deleted from Run

1. - Before starting the recovery msconfig.exeNeed to make sure that it is still located on system partition. It should be in C:WindowsPCHealthHelpCtrBinaries. If msconfig.exe is not in that folder, then you need Installation CD al Windows XP. Open one Command Prompt, Insert the CD into the CD-ROM, and then type the command:

EXPAND -RD: I386MSCONFIG.EX_ C:WINDOWSPCHEALTHHELPCTRBINARIES

Or, if you still have a computer Windows XP at hand, it is easier to copy msconfig.exe from it in the folder Binaries.

2. - If msconfig.exe is missing from Binaries folder, but you can not launch it from the Run, the problem is to registry. Check the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionApp PathsMSCONFIG.EXE. In the right pane, the Default should be C:WINDOWSPCHealthHelpCtrBinariesMSConfig.exe.

Once the correct registry, msconfig command can be launched from Run smoothly.
