Disabling DEP (Data Execution Prevention) / Windows XP SP2

First DEP (Data Execution Prevention) / Data Execution Prevention it is a stressful "feature" of the operating system Windows XP SP2. The purpose of DEP is to prevent code execution from data pages, including from the default work area. In Romanian, if I transferred some movies from an external memory (Flash USB) to a computer, when I access the "destination" folder, this "error" appears and it restarts explorer.exe .

According to those in Microsoft benefits DEP as:

DEP can help block a class of security intrusions. Specifically, DEP can ensure the blocking of a malicious program in which a virus or other type of attack has infiltrated an additional code process, then attempts to execute the infiltrated code. On a DEP system, the execution of the infiltrated code results in an exception. The software-enabled DEP can ensure the blocking of programs that benefit from the exception handling mechanisms in Windows.

Irrelevant as antivirus (with update up to date) says that the files do not contain any suspicious virus code, DEP still goes and gives remnants in joy.

Off DEP (Data Execution Prevention)

The easiest way is to edit the file boot.ini , From the system / Noexecute = AlwaysOff . If the partition is found installed operating system is C:, boot.ini will have access route: C: boot.ini .

Boot.ini content (default)

[Boot loader]
timeout = 30
default=many(0)disk(0) rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS
[operating systems]
many(0)disk(0) rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows XP Professional ”/ noexecute = optin / fastdetect

Content boot.ini (DEP Disable)

[Boot loader]
timeout = 30
default=many(0)disk(0) rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS
[operating systems]
many(0)disk(0) rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows XP Professional ”/ noexecute = optin / Noexecute = AlwaysOff / Fastdetect

Restart the computer, after the boot.ini file has been edited and saved.
