Who thought that this day will not ever catch, well, you are dead wrong: on March 15 Microsoft will close one the most popular Instant Messaging clients, namely Windows live Messenger (Formerly known as MSN). The good news is that it will be replaced with another popular IM client, Skype or WhatsappBought by Microsoft in May 2011, but perhaps are nostalgic enough users that use WLM for a decade or two, and who would have preferred to not be forced to abandon it.
Microsoft announced a few days ago, by e-mail, all users Windows live Messenger that after March 15 2013 will not be able to log on the client for IM, but instead will be notified to make upgrade to Skype, You will be able to login using WLM username and passwordAnd where all contacts from your old IM client will be automatically imported.
On 15th March 2013 we are retiring the existing Messenger service globally (except for mainland China where Messenger will continue to be available) and bringing the great features of Messenger and Skype together. Update to Skype and sign in using a Microsoft Account (same as your Messenger ID) and all your Messenger contacts will be at your fingertips. You'll be able to instant message and video chat with them just like before, and also discover new ways of staying in touch with Skype on your mobile and tablet.
Users Windows live Messenger we recommend install Skype even now, in order to more easily get used to this IM client (of course, valid only for those who already use it, given its increased popularity in recent years). If you already have a Skype account, Log on to show that both contacts on SkypeAs well as those on Windows live Messenger (To access contacts both accountsWill have required to login with username WLMOtherwise will not be displayed than Skype contacts).
