Although it is renowned as the world's largest video and live streaming platform, users will soon be able to access multiplayer games on YouTube.
YouTube, one of the world's most popular video streaming platforms, is expanding its services and exploring new ways to attract users. After becoming the go-to place for video, music and educational content, the company is now testing the integration of multiplayer games on the platform. This initiative is part of a larger effort to make YouTube an interactive space where users can do more than just watch content – they can interact and be entertained in real time.
YouTube wants to expand its influence and the time users spend on the platform by adding multiplayer games. This means that users will be able to access simple mini-games such as Magic Tiles 3 or Ludo club, directly on the platform. They will be played in real time with other users, making YouTube not only a space for videos, but also an interactive gaming platform.
The new feature is part of the "Playables" game collection, which includes light and free games. This collection has been tested on YouTube for about a year, and in May of this year, it was opened to all users, after previously being accessible only to those with premium subscriptions. Currently, the catalog offers more than 130 games, covering various categories such as action, puzzles, simulators or sports.

YouTube isn't the only platform using games to increase user engagement. Other companies like Netflix and LinkedIn have also introduced such options, trying to keep audiences engaged for longer. However, YouTube is betting on an interactive approach through these multiplayer games, creating a more connected community and diversifying the entertainment options available on the platform.
